Offering locals and non-locals a venue for meetings, wedding parties, children's parties, indoor sports and live music.

Bosham Village Hall was opened in 1996 and is located in the heart of the village next to the village school and recreation ground.

The hall has disabled facilities.

We have 15 car parking spaces including one disabled.

There is a Main Hall and separate carpeted Function Room. Both rooms have access to a large modern kitchen.  The Main hall is high enough for club standard Badminton and will accommodate a bouncy castle.

Facts and Figures

The main hall is 16m x 9m (54ft x30ft) with a stage centred on the long wall and adjacent changing rooms and toilets.  Seated at separate six foot tables for eating the capacity is 145. For dancing or close seated the capacity is 200.

The function room is a carpeted room measuring 8m x 7m (26ft x 24ft), opening off the Main Hall but with its own separate access. Seated at tables the capacity is 56, for close seated 80.

There are 22 six-foot modern folding tables and 100 folding chairs.

Teenage Parties

Due to previous adverse experiences, we do not allow teenage parties to be held at the village hall.

Weddings

If you are looking to hire the hall for a wedding we now have a separate package which includes use of the entire building, tables, chairs, crockery and cutlery as required.  NB: you will need to provide your own glasses.

The hiring period extends from 17.00 on Friday to 12.00 on Sunday, which allows for setting up and clearing away.

There is a £150 deposit payable at the time of booking.  This is refundable if the whole building (including the toilets) is left clean and tidy.

The hiring fee for locals (within the village) is £700 and for non-locals is £850; this must be paid one month prior to the event.

Kitchen

There is a modern kitchen designed for function catering up to 150 people, with a double oven, heated cupboard and boiling water supply which is accessible from both the Main Hall and Function Room. There is a serving hatch from the kitchen into the Function room which is ideal for use as a bar counter.

White crockery which consists of cup/saucers, side/dinner plates, and dessert bowls is available for use, cutlery is available by prior arrangement. Glassware is provided.

Please note, if you are serving food/snacks we have a strict NO NUTS policy due to possible allergies.  Thank you.

Stage Lighting

Audio Equipment

Our sound systems were almost entirely renewed in August 2014.

The Main Hall now features an 8-channel Yamaha stereo powered mixer driving a pair of wall-mounted Electrovoice cabinet speakers and a hearing loop. A Denon cd player is connected to the system, alongside a cable adaptor that enables users to easily connect their own MP3 or laptop audio players. The Hall also provides 3 x dynamic microphones and microphone cables. Additional equipment can be provided by prior arrangement with the Hall management.

For visiting bands, or other Hall users with more complex audio requirements, all connections into the Hall system are via industry-standard XLR or jack sockets, so that additional microphones, sub-mixers, powered fold-back speakers etc., can be added into the core system very quickly. Please note that for all users there will be a £5 surcharge for use of the built in sound system .

For Hall users who have hired the entire premises, the Main Hall sound can be relayed - either completely or selectively - into the Function Room.

The Function Room features a 3-channel mono mixer and an installed wall speaker. A single dynamic microphone and cable are provided. Additional equipment, including a hearing loop, can be quickly provided by prior arrangement with the Hall management, but given the smaller size of the Function Room we do not routinely keep a full range of pre-installed equipment in this Room.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi has now been re-connected in the hall for users.  Please contact Liz Taverner (see below) for the password.

Liquor Laws

The hall has no licence to sell alcohol, however wine can be served at a private function on a 'Bring Your Own' basis.

If alcohol is to be sold at functions (including any priced ticket charges), you will require a TEN (Temporary Event Notice) obtained from the Licensing Department at Chichester District Council, the current cost is £21.00 for each TEN. You should allow at least 21 working days for the application. A limited number of TENs are issued a year.

If you reside in the village we do hire our tables and blue plastic chairs – the charge is £3.00 per large table, £1.50 per small table and 15p per chair.
